My favorite Chilliwack album...been waiting for this one to come out for many years and this release sounds great...along with Dreams Dreams Dreams these two of three Mushroom era albums released here in 2013 has crystal clear sound and actually sounds like it's from a master tape source...unfortunately Breakdown In Paradise another classic Chilliwack album was a big disappointment as it was clearly mastered from vinyl and not a good vinyl source...can't listen to that one...loaded with album rumble...but thankfully Lights From The Valley and Dreams Dreams Dreams sound great. If you like classic Canadian Melodic Rock then this album is as good as it gets.Glad that this album finally got released on cd! I bought the vinyl format of this album in '79 and have always liked the content, probably my favorite all-round Chilliwack album. Didn't know that there was so much heartache in the group when they were making it, though.Very excited to see this on CD! Packaged to replicate the original vinyl. I was impressed with how this was put together!Awesome old tunes eh Long live Too loud Mcleod...brings back CFUN memories..A very tasty accoustic mix..Great then great now..A long wait for remaster.but worth it..!!geatGoodThis Album Should Be Released on Cd. What's Up With That? My Favorite From This Album is Looking For A Place. Also We Don't Have To Fall In Love, And She Keeps On Crying Are Real Good To.Hope They Get This Classic On Cd Soon. What to do after creating the classic "Dreams Dreams Dreams" was the challenge for Bill Henderson and company. While not being quite as tight and focused as that landmark album, "Lights" is nevertheless one of the highlights of Chilliwack's discography. This release saw the entry of Brian McLeod into the band, and his musicianship and studio wizardry would emerge to help evolve Chilliwack's sound over the next 4 releases. With 10 songs, there is lots to choose from. Arms of Mary was the big hit single but not necessarily the best song. I Wanna Be The One, Looking For A Place, Never Be the Same are real highlights and show the band shifting to a harder edge sound that is reflective of their constant touring and efforts to break into the US market. Brian McLeod gets lead vocals on a couple of tracks and makes his case for being a dynamic new addition to the group. This harder edge helps to define "Lights" as a "transition album", and touring to support the record was much anticipated by fans as a follow up to the success of "Dreams". Releases by Chilliwack were now much anticipated and for a short period Chilliwack could actually count on their record company to be solvent- which aided their touring efforts. Ironically, only Arms of Mary tends to be in the bands recent live shows, while one listen to the album will convince that this record was designed for live shows. While some may have wished for a sequel to "Dreams", the real beauty in this release is its boldness to do something different all the while building on the classic Chilliwack sound. This one sounds good loud.I had forgotten how good this release was. One of my favorite songs growing up and even now is Fly at night by Chilliwack. Back when LP's were still popular and you could by singles on 45's that is how I was first introduced to Chilliwack. I later on took a chance, so I thought at the time, and purchased Lights from the Valley as my first album from Chilliwack. I was not disappointed. There are many songs on this release that when I hear the first few chords memories instantly start coming back. It is just candy for the ears to hear these songs once again. It would have been a shame to not have this material being re released. While not my favorite Chilliwack album, Lights From The Valley still gets a lot of play at my house. I ripped a digital copy from vinyl about 10 years ago and made a CD. When I listened to it with good headphones, I longed for a better copy. When Chilliwack released their live album There and Back, Bill Henderson mentioned in the liner notes that this would probably be the last time most of the songs were issued on CD. I was disappointed by that, but imagine my surprise this summer when the 3 Chilliwack albums recorded on the Mushroom label were going to be issued on CD! And let me tell you, this was well worth the wait. While the Dreams, Dreams, Dreams and Breakdown in Paradise CDs suffer from technical issues, Lights From The Valley is the best of the lot. It has great sound all the way through. There is a bit of tape drop evident on the bonus track "Mary Lou and Me", but Bill acknowledges that it was on account of the condition and age of the master tapes. It's minimal and towards the very end of the song. There are a couple of minor tape drops elsewhere on the album, but they are barely noticeable. The sound is crisp, the guitars sound like they're right in the room with you and the mix is true to the original. This is a great improvement over the vinyl.Ça me semble bien jouer mais mon apppareil de lecture du CD ne reconnaît pas le (nom du groupe)...dommage ,je ne serai pas encline à des achats futurs pour d’autres CDs .Record plays well no issues or concerns. Very pleased with my purchases and will be more.
